Styling an Open Cardigan for Spring
Today I am styling an open cardigan for spring. Cardigans are great closet staples and spring is a perfect time to wear them! I paired my coral-colored cardigan with a white v-neck tee, white skinny jeans, espadrille wedge sandals, and a colorful long pendant necklace.

STYLE NOTES
Cardigan: This open cardigan is soft and lightweight, making it a perfect layering piece for spring. I am 5’3″ but am able to wear it in a regular medium without it being too long. Below are styling tips for looking your best in longer cardigans like the one I styled for today.
Cardigan Styling Tips
- To avoid added bulk, opt for cardigans made of thinner materials rather than chunky or cable knits.
- Avoid cardigans with bell sleeves to prevent adding width to the hip area.
- Choose cardigans that fall above the knee rather than at mid-calf (unless you are very tall and thin).
- Pair long cardigans with slim pants such as skinny jeans.
- For a slimming effect, go monochromatic with your top base layer and your pants.
- Wear cardigans with a Y-necklace or long pendant necklace to visually elongate your top half.
V-Neck T-Shirt: I recently purchased this white t-shirt. It is from Walmart’s new Time & Tru line of clothing. Since it was priced at only $7.86, I decided to give it a try. I really like the v-neck (not too high or too low) and the semi-fitted shape of the tee. The material is also soft and comfortable without being too sheer.
White Skinny Jeans: My exact white jeans are no longer available, but they are my third pair of white jeans from LOFT. I have been very happy with the fit and thickness of each pair. These Modern Twist Seam White Skinny Jeans are cute and currently available in both regular and petite sizes.
Espadrilles: My espadrille wedge sandals are another recent purchase from Walmart. I love the look of the popular Marc Fisher Wedges but don’t have the budget for them. The Walmart version is an inexpensive dupe ($19.88) and a great neutral taupe color. I purchased these wedges for dressing up and wearing to church, and they work for this purpose. The sole is fairly comfortable, but I wouldn’t want to walk long distances in them.
Necklace: I accessorized the outfit with my Turkish Delight Convertible Necklace. It is part of a 2-piece necklace set, but I chose to wear only the pendant portion with this outfit. The pendant has a sliding adjustable closure so it can be worn as short as a choker, as a long pendant, or any where in between. The bottom portion of the pendant can also be removed for an additional look. The necklace features semi-precious coral-hued stone, howlite, sodalite, turquoise, and clear crystal pavé. I love the colors and the versatility of this piece!
